Young J Holden Junior (son of popular Dearne Athletic secretary “J” senior) had most notable success in the Barnsley technical School sports, winning the 100 yards, Junior boys event the 220 Yards and the 440 Yards junior events, long jump and the second place in the 880.

Holden’s house (Wren) won the Relay event, while his long jump (18 feet) beats Arecord of 16’11”, Held since 1944 for junior boys, and his 220 yards (20.26) beats the previous best of 20.465.2 sec.
