Prospective Don Valley Candidate at Barnburgh

Mr. Ian Harvey, prospective Conservative candidate for the Don Valley Division, is getting to know his constituency with all a young man’s energy. He is not merely meeting his constituents at social gatherings. He is talking to them at their work underground.

On Monday morning he descended the deep seam at Barnburgh Main Colliery and spent three hours in the workings: in the afternoon he toured the Manvers Main by-product plant.

Mr. Harvey was accompanied down the Barnburgh pit by the Manvers Main Colliery Agent, Mr. J. Bell.

Miners in Barnburgh pit grouped round Mr. I. Harvey during his underground tour on Monday.
