Mr and Mrs W Wilks, Colliery Cottages, Barnburgh, has received official news of the death in action of their only son, private George Wilks (Leicester Regiment.)

The following letter has been received from the Rev James Dyson:

“I cannot tell you how deeply sorry I am to write this letter for I have to inform you that your son George, my very faithful servant and friend during the last six months, was killed by misadventure this morning – or rather during the night.”
