Shocking Accident

Goldthorpe Miner’s Leg Torn Off

A Goldthorpe miner, Albert Bassinder (60), of 34, High Street, Goldthorpe, sustained serious injuries at Hickleton Colliery last week-end.

Bassinder was employed near the “creepers” which convey the corves from the pit bank to the screens and was caught in the machinery, his leg being torn off below the knee.

After receiving first aid he was taken to the Beckett Hospital.

His condition last night was stated to be satisfactory.
