Important Match at Wakefield.

There was our big crowd of spectators at the City Grounds,  Wakefield, yesterday afternoon, when Clayton’s Nance of  Goldthorpe, and Cope’s Melody, of Mexborough, ran the  best of 21 courses for £5O.

Betting started at 30 to 20 in favour Melody, who eventually won after a keen  contest 11 courses to Nance 9.

Ellis Lingard,  Wombwell slipped the winner. The referee was J. T  Roberts, of Tingley, and T. Douglas, Leeds, was the starter.
