Goldthorpe Miners in Road Mishap

Having completed a shift at Goldthorpe Colliery, early on Saturday morning, three men were walking towards Goldthorpe on the Barnsley-Doncaster Road, when they were involved in an accident with a motor-van.

The men. Arthur Deacon (41) 31, Barnsley Road, Highgate, Cyr Chapman (23). of 3. Oak Terrace, Thurnscoe and Jack Orrelt (47), Britton Street, Thurnscoe, were taken to Mexborough Manta Hospital. After treatment all w allowed to go home.

The van involved which was travelling from Doncaster, driven by 21-years-old Graham Stuart, of 95, Balby Road, Doncaster, who was not injured
