Montagu Charity Cup
Goldthorpe Institute 1 Parkgate and Rawarsh 1
The final in the above competition was played at Wath on Saturday, before a crowd of 1500 people.
The first half was very even, teams crossing over out either side having scored. Then Rawmarsh did some pressing, and but for the splendid form shown by the Goldthorpe backs, must have scored
Criddle, for Goldthorpe, shortly afterwards had exceedingly hard lines with a grand shop.
After 20 minutes Russell opened Rawmarsh’s account from a grand centre by Lax.shortly afterwards sending another grand shot which Burton was lucky to head out.
Hereabouts Criddle put in some ground work, but was held well in check by Frith.
The Goldthorpe forwards now played a fine game, and had hard luck several times, Brazil at length equalising with a splendid shot.
From this to the end of play was fairly even, and there was no further scoring.
