Goldthorpe Forward Promoted.

After trials with one or two bigger clubs Leonard Shaw, the Goldthorpe United inside-right, has been promoted to first-class football. He was engaged by Birmingham this week.

Mexboro’ tried him out once or twice last season but were not sufficiently impressed to come to terms.                Chesterfield, too, gave him a trial, but they also remained unimpressed. Shortly after he had signed forms for. Birmingham Shaw was invited 10 go to Tottenham.

He is a brainy player with the right idea of inside forward play, – but the criticism that was made against him when he was seen at Hampden Road was that he was rather too slow-moving. Some observers attributed it to a touch of nervousness: for it is stated  that he has a good turn of speed. At any rate he is well built, standing 5ft. 10 and weighing 11 stone

He is only 22.
