Fatal Accident In Pit

A verdict of ” Accidental death” was returned the Mexborough Inquest yesterday on George William Young (22), colliery rope runner, Cross Gate. Mexborough, who died in hospital at the week-end from injuries received, when he was knocked down by a run of tubs at the Manvers Main Colliery, 10 days ago.

It was stated at the time of the accident, Young, who was working alone, was bringing a run of seven or eight empty tubs down a slight gradient, which had to change a point and then rap off some the tubs.

No one saw what happened but a fellow workman, Miles Lee of Goldthorpe. heard shouts about three minutes after the tubs had stopped, and found Young lying with hie leg doubled across his body
