Deputy at Montagu

In  this exclusive “South Yorkshire Times” picture, W. Winder, the deputy, is seen in the Mexborough Montagu Hospital accepting a drink from his wife who has been assisting at the Hospital for the last two years as a V.A.D.

Mrs. Winder has been a member of the S. J. A.B. for over fourteen years, first at Wath and then at Goldthorpe.

When she heard of the accident she waited at home and for a time at the pithead, hurrying back to the hospital when she heard her husband was safe so as to be ready to receive him.

“It’s been grand being able to help to look after him myself,” she told a reporter.
