Difficult Goldthorpe Boy

For non-compliance with an order of the Court that her son should attend school, Leone Smith, a Highgate woman, was fined £1 at Doncaster on Tuesday.

Mr William H John Colin Divisional Clerk, said the boy had got into the habit of wandering from home and begging.

He had been before the Court for theft and had been birched for a breach of recognigances.

He had an industrial school ready for the boy to go and the parent was willing.

The Clerk (Mr EW Pettifer), pointed out that the Bench could only impose a fine on the first summons for non-compliance with an order.
