Barnburgh Colliery Amateur Dramatic Society

Rehearsals

Ever since their formation, Barnburgh Colliery Amateur Dramatic Society have used a room at the rear of the colliery pithead baths, known to members as “the little theatre”—for their rehearsals.

They have now decided, that except for the four weeks preceding production period, to rehearse in the club room at the Halfway Hotel, Highgate. The change was made for the first time on Tuesday.

The “little theatre” is some distance from Goldthorpe, and, with members at Wath and Mexborough as well as in the Dearne district, the society feel that their new home will be more central and convenient, especially for the women members.

In addition they are hoping this new location will help in bringing in a few more playing members. Barnburgh have always built their sets In the “little theatre” and rehearsed on the actual set for a month before production date.
