Appointment to Lloyd Perran Ironstone Mine in Cornwall

His friends will learn with interest that Mr F A Linton, formerly agent and manager of Barnburgh Main Colliery, has been appointed general manager of the Lloyd Perran Ironstone Mine in Cornwall, and will shortly commence duties there.

Mr Linton, who is a son of the late Rev H Linton, was born and Broom, near Wigan. He began his mining career with the and Broom coal Co Ltd and on qualifying was appointed manager of the colliery there.

Later he managed the collieries of Crompton and Shawson Ltd at Wigan for 15 years and those of the Hollybank Coal Company, Staffordshire for eight years.

In 1931 he was appointed assistant manager of the Kilnhurst colliery and two years later took over the position of manager at Barnburgh Main colliery. Mr Linton is a keen sportsman and he is popular in the district.
