Another Finney

One of the outstanding players for Goldthorpe United this season has been. C. L. Finney, brother of Finney of Bury, and brother-in-law of Ted Bowen, of Northampton, formerly of Mexboro’ and Wath.

Finney plays equally well at left-half or left back. This season he has had trials with Huderdsfield at left half and with Blackburn at back. Towards the close of last season he had trials with Bury.

Finney is 21 years old, stands 5ft. 9 ins. and weighs 11 1/2  stones. He is a sure kick and fearless tackler. He commenced his football career five years ago with Goldthorpe in the Sheffield Association League competition.

The following season he played with Mexboro’ and later with Barnburgh: but for two seasons he has been with Goldthorpe. These seasons have been the most successful in the history of the club and Finney has done much towards that success.
