Wigfield Wins “Star” Shield

The competition for the “Star” Shield was again keenly contested, Stratton. Westwood, Bowerman, Strecker, Jenkins, Cort. and Wigfield rode with spirit and determination.

The final for this popular trophy provided the best, race of the meeting. Wigfield and Stratton took the race to the post, but the Goldthorpe rider could not displaced.

The shield was presented to Wigfield by “Daredevil” Beckett.

A match race between Stratton and Wigfield gave the spectators the last thrill of the meeting. Wigfield rode extremely well but could not shake off the New Zealand rider.
