Wigfield Wins Nottingham Golden Helmet.
Arthur Sherlock, of Leicester, lost the Golden Helmet, of which he was the holder, at the Nottingham Speedway on Saturday, being beaten by George Wigfield, of Goldthorpe, whose time for the event was 85 1-5 secs.
Wigfield also won the challenge race from N. Wheeler, of Leicester.
In the junior race. W. F. Shirker, of Sheffield, after being successful in his heat lost in the final to W, M. Hemstock, of Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Barnsley’s First Victory in the League.
Although five of the nine heats of their English Dirt Track League fixtures with Barnsley on the Lundwood Speedway yesterday went in favour of Belle Vue, they were defeated by 36 points 26, Barnsley thus gaining their first victory in the League
