Surgeon Lieutenant G. B. Creighton (Swinton) and Miss J. M. Walker (Goldthorpe)
Surgeon Lieutenant Godfrey Creighton R.N.V.R. only son of County Coun. Maurice Creighton, Sunnymede, Station Road, Swinton, and the late Mrs. Creighton was married on Saturday to Miss Joan Margaret Walker, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank G. Walker, 12, Park Road, Goldthorpe at Bolton-on-Dearne Parish Church.
The bride’s gown was of heavy ivory satin with a ruched bodice and full skirt and sleeves in bishop style with quilted shoulders. Her ivory lace veil flowed into a train and was surmounted by a halo of ivory satin, and she carried pink roses. She was given away by her father and was escorted by Misses Marjorie Spargo, Mary Swann and Betty Prondley. Mr. Geoffrey Watson B.D.S. was best man and groomsmen were Mr. Edward Iliffe L.D.S. and Mr. Ronald Swinn.
Surgeon-Lieut. and Mrs. Creighton left later for their honeymoon at Keswick, the bride travelling in a light brown costume, three quarter coat and brown accessories.
The bride and bridegroom are both old students of Mexborough Secondary School. The bridegroom qualified in dental surgery at Sheffield University and volunteered for service as a naval dental surgeon. The bride was educated at Whitelands College, Bede College, Durham and is on the teaching staff of London Road Infants’ School, Nottingham. From the bridegroom’s colleagues the couple received a cheque and from the brides colleagues a silver coffee pot.
