Wedding – Ellis & Poole
The wedding took place at Wath Parish Church on Saturday, of Miss Irene Ellis, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Ellis, 18, Sandymount Road, Wath, to Mr. Edgar A. Poole, youngest son of Mr. and the late Mrs. A. Poole, 19, Dearne View, Goldthorpe.
Given away by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory figured satin with veil and coronet of arum lilies and carried a sheaf of roses. The service, which was choral, was conducted by the Rev. Evans, and the hymn “Lead us, Heavenly Father, lead us,” was sung. Mr. T. Hampshire was organist. The bride was attended by Misses Dora Ellis, Winifred Ellis, Ida Clark, Hilda Brown, and Margaret Herring. As the bride left the church, two of the bride’s cousins presented her with silver horse-shoes. The bridesmaids wore crepe de Chine dresses in blue and pink and carried white and pink carnations. The bridegroom’s gifts to the bridesmaids were brooches, necklaces, and a bangle.
Mr. R. Poole was best man and Mr. R. Ellis and Mr. T. Herring groomsmen. The honeymoon is being spent at Fleetwood, the bride travelling in a costume of pale blue with navy accessories.
