Two Killed In Coal Fall

At a South Yorkshire Pit

A fall of coal at Barnborough Colliery, near Mexborough, to-day, killed Colin Smith, a deputy, of Hope Avenue, Goldthorpe and Sidney Marshall, a collier, of Harlington.

Smith was making his round of the pit and had only just reached Marshall when the fall occurred.

Other miners working near dug frantically, but when they reached the two men, found they were dead.

Both Smith and Marshall were married; neither had any family. The pit belongs to the Manvers Main Collieries, Ltd.
