Their Silver Wedding – Mr & Mrs Edwards

Celebrating their Silver Wedding on August 10th will be a Barnburgh couple, Mr, and Mrs. Robert Edwards of 1, Green Lane.

Mr. Edwards has recently gained a Colliery Manager’s certificate. The couple have one daughter, Veronica (20), a shorthand typist in Doncaster. Mr. Edwards began his mining career at Manvers Main

Colliery at the age of 14. In January, 1947, he was appointed under-manager at Barnburgh and he began studying for a Manager’s Course in January, 1959, at Doncaster Technical College.

Mr.Edwards’ friend, Mr. W. Clegg, of 4, Cross Street, Wath, under manager at Cortonwood Colliery, has also gained a Manager’s certificate.
