Barnburgh Brothers.      

Pte. A. E -Whelpdale (Leicester Regt.)( picture, right). 10, Green-lane, Barnburgh, who had not been heard ot since March 5, has now communicated with his parents from a German internment camp.

He is 19 years of age, and had been serving six months.

Before enlistment he was employed in the lamp-house at the Barnburgh Colliery.

His brother, Stoker W.H. Whelpdale,(picture, left)  who was formerly employed as blacksmith at the same colliery, has been in the Navy three years, earlier in the submarine service, but more recently in a cruiser, and he is probably now in African waters.
