Prisoner In Italy.

Mr. and Mrs. E. Emmonds, of 24, Princess Street, have received official intimation that their son, Corporal George Emmonds (21), is a prisoner of war in Italy.

Corporal Emmonds was reported missing in May, and his mother received a letter from him in June. It is stated that he is in a Red Cross Hospital near Rome, where he has been since he was wounded while in action in Libya. He also mentions in his letter that he is being well treated.

Corporal Emmonds was born at Goldthorpe. He is an old boy of Goldthorpe Boys’ School, and previous to joining up was employed at Barnburgh Main Colliery.

He has a brother serving in Syria, and his father served in the last war.
