Pte. L. Crawshaw
York and Lancaster
Private Crawshaw of 41, Kelly Street, Goldthorpe, aged 29, has been killed in action, and. leaves a widow and three children.
His mother has received the following message from the Rev. W. S. Bethway:
“I regret to say that your son, Pte. L. Crawshaw, was killed in action on April 11. He was shot through the head and died instantly.
On that date the battalion made a great fight, and succeeded in holding up the German advance. Your son died most gallantly, and it is to such as he that we must be grateful that the German plans were frustrated.
I offer you my sincere sympathy in your loss, and pray that God will comfort and solace you in your sorrow.”
A younger brother, Sgt. J. Crawshaw, is serving in France.
