New Minister
The Rev. and Mrs. John Hulley took up residence at Goldthorpe last Thursday.
Mr. Hulley comes to take the place as Resident Minister at Doncaster Road Methodist Church and Wesley Hall of the Rev. N. F. Kedward, who left last month to take service as chaplain in the Royal Navy. Mr. Hulley comes from a family of miners, his father being a miner and he himself working in the mines at his native Whitehaven, Cumberland, from the age of 14 until he was 21, when he entered Cliff College. For three years he was engaged on evangelistic work and for a while was lay pastor at Tring, Hertfordshire. He was accepted as a candidate for the ministry in 1936 and studied at the Hartley Victoria College, Manchester. Since being ordained, he has had charge of the Victoria Road Methodist Church, Widnes.
He conducted his first service in Goldthorpe on Sunday, at Wesley Hall in the morning and Doncaster Road Church in the evening.
