Mining Deaths.
Mystery of Goldthorpe Accident.
The narrow escape of two men and the death of one when girders fell the Goldthorpe Colliery after being set to support a weak section of roof, was described to the Doncaster district Coroner, Mr. W. H. Carlile, on Saturday, at the inquest on Arthur Brammer, of Goldthorpe, who was killed on Friday.
It was stated that Hurry Taylor, of Goldthorpe, who was working with Brammer, was standing about a foot from him when two girders fell, crushing Brammer.
A deputy, Harry Green also of Goldthorpe, passed under the girder ten seconds before it fell. The cause of the fall was not revealed.
It was stated that every precaution had been taken to prevent an accident. A verdict of Accidental death ” was returned.
