Marriage Solemnised

 Bloomer & Roantree.

The marriage was solemnised at Barnburgh Church on Monday of Miss Edna Roantree, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Roantree, High Street, Goldthorpe, and Mr. John Frederick Bloomer, eldest son of the late Dr. F. W. Bloomer, of Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire.

Bride and bridegroom have been popular members of the Mexborough Tennis Club. The bridegroom was formerly on the staff of the Conisborough branch of the National Provincial Bank and was recently transferred to a Manchester branch.

The service was choral. The hymn “Lead us, Heavenly Father, lead us,” was sung, and Mrs. T. Hardwick, Thurnscoe, was the organist. The rector of Barnburgh, the Rev. W. R. Hartley officiated, and the bride was given away by her father. She wore white chiffon velvet, with veil and wreath, and carried red roses. Her toilette was completed by a silver and pearl necklace. She was attended by two friends, Misses Dorothy Dickinson (Bolton-on-Dearne) and Madeleine Nicholson (Conisborough), wearing pale pink lace and blue net trimmed with ruched ribbon and lovers’ knots. Their hats were of pink and blue taffeta leaves, and their bouquets of love-in-the-mist and pink carnations.

The best man was Mr. D. S. Morris and the groomsman Mr. J. H. Sutcliffe. A reception was held in Hodgson and Hepworth’s cafe, Doncaster, the bride’s mother receiving the guests in a gown of navy-blue crepe-de-Chine and blue lace. The bridegroom’s mother wore brown velvet. The honeymoon is being spent in London and on the south coast. The bride travelled in a navy blue costume and hat.
