Mr Wilfred Bentham, of Lindale Gardens, Goldthorpe, was presented with a long service medal by Chief Inspector Barker and Sergeant G. Bell at Goldthorpe Police Station this week.

He enrolled in the Warden Section of the Civil Defence Corps in 1951, following service between 1943 and 1945 on rescue and First Aid. He was appointed Post Warden for Goldthorpe in 1961 and in 1962 he continuyed training and completed Avance training in November 1964.
