Highgate Colliery Sidings Raided

Two Thurnscoe unemployed miners Joseph Steel (63), 21, Queen Street, and Leonard Dunkley (41), of 3, Whitworth’s Building, were fined 15s. each at Doncaster on Saturday for having stolen 1 cwt. of coal from the Highgate Colliery.

Supt. Minty said a constable saw them pushing a handcart with four small bags of coal in Lidgett Lane, Thurnscoe.

They admitted that they had taken it from the Highgate Colliery sidings.
