Mexborough and Swinton Times May 13, 1927

Goldthorpe United concluded their programme on Saturday, when they met Bolton Albion at Bolton, in the final of the Mexborough Subsidy Composition. There was a good crowd.

The game was very fast and exciting, Goldthorpe winning by 3-0. Chivers scored all three.

Mr L Meadows, of Kilnhurst, presented the Cup.

The United have had a very successful season, having won 3 cups – the Montagu Cup, the Hemsworth Cup and the Mexborough subsidiary Cup and the Mexborough senior league medals
