Golden Wedding Party
For Goldthorpe Couple

Congratulations go to a well-known Goldthorpe couple, Mr and Mrs Jack Carter, 14 Highfield Ave,who celebrated 50 years of happy married life on Saturday.

Mr Carter was a surface worker at Barnburgh Main Colliery until his retirement at age 65 eight years ago is a native of Cockermouth, Cumberland, where he was employed in the steelworks until the depression.

He then came to Goldthorpe with his wife and got a job at Barnburgh Main. For a time Mr and Mrs Carter lived in Hope Ave, Goldthorpe.

For many years Mr and Mrs Carter were members of the salvation Army and still attend services in the Goldthorpe Headquarters occasionally.
