Golden Wedding.
On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Jack Beevers, of 38, Goldthorpe Road. Goldthorpe, celebrate their golden wedding. They were married at St Thomas’s Church. Worsbro’ Dale.
Mr Beevers is 71, and Mrs Beevers, who hails, from LOW Valley is 73.
They have a family of four sons and three daughters, and have 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They came to Thurnscoe 50 years ago, and have resided in Thurnscoe and Goldthorpe the last 13 years, in the latter place.
Mr. Beevers was employed in the blacksmith’s shop at Hickleton Main Colliery for 43 years, retiring five years ago. He has been sick visitor for the Rotherham Druids for the last 37 years.
Mrs. Beevers has had the unusual experience of twice going down the Hickleton Main shalt, once when the sinking was in progress in 1893 and once since coal was being worked.
