“Double” Wedding at Goldthorpe
Larkman – Smith – Tillotson – Smith
A ” double” wedding was solemnised at the Goldthorpe Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, when the two daughters of Mr. and Mrs. J. Smith, of 55, Washington Road, Goldthorpe, were married: Margaret, the elder, to Mr. H. Larkman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larkman, of Hull, and Anne to Mr. William Tillison. The Rev. Father Waugh officiated, and the brides were given away by their father. Margaret’s dress was of ivory silk with lace georgette and full flare skirt and a net veil embroidered with silk. She carried a sheaf of bronze chrysanthemums. Anne wore a dress of suede Jap shell-pink with full flare skirt and a veil of Brussels net, lent by Nurse Hodge, of Sheffield.
She carried white chrysanthemums. Mrs. G. Stones, cousin of the brides, wearing lemon georgette and silk with coatee, was a matron of honour, and the bridesmaids were Miss Teasdale, in lemon silk with lace coatee, and Misses Alice and Kathleen Larkman, sisters of the bridegroom, who wore green silk with puff sleeves. All wore head-dresses of silver and gold and carried white chrysanthemums. The dresses were all ankle-length. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. Larkman’s brother and by Mr. E. Smith, the bride’s brother.
