Appointment

Mr. Edward Cunliffe, of 13, Hickleton Road, Goldthorpe, has been appointed groundsman to York Cricket Club, and he and Mrs. Cunliffe expect to leave for York shortly.
Mr. and Mrs. Cunliffe have lived in Barnburgh for 13 years. Earlier this year Mr. Cunliffe was trapped with three other men for 9 ½ hours in Barnburgh Main Colliery before being released, when one of the men was found to be dead. He has worked at the colliery nearly 12 years.
He has been associated with Barnburgh C.C. for ten years, being groundsman for the last eight years, and was an umpire in the South Yorkshire Cricket League.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Cunliffe are wardens.
