“This family have unfortunately lost another boy. About two years ago another son was killed, and a year or so before the father had a serious accident in the mine,” said Mr J Minnikin, manager of the Hickleton Main Colliery, at an inquest at Goldthorpe yesterday, on John McCanaan (20), a haulage hand, 39, Main Street, Goldthorpe, whose body was found almost decapitated at the rope at which he was working down Hickleton Main Pit on Tuesday.
The coroner said they could only assume how deceased came by his death.
