Goldthorpe And Thurnscoe “Specials” Shine

Thurnscoe and Goldthorpe Special Constables were members of the Doncaster Divisional team, winners of the West Riding Chief Constables’ Ambulance Cup, at Wakefield, on Sunday.  The team was E. Green (captain) and V. Lawson (Goldthorpe), A. Rutland (Thurnscoe), J. Moses (Adwick-le-Street) and J. Starbruck (Bentley). The team were instructed by Sergeant Appleton (Mexborough).

In the individual championship for the best ambulance man among the West Riding Special Constables, A. Rutland (Thurnscoe) gained a remarkable success, winning the trophy with 22½  points out of a possible 24.  He had been trained by Mr. J. Robinson, Thurnscoe.  Teams competing were Doncaster, Halifax, Todmorden and Tadcaster.
