A Doncaster Transfer
Eric Longden is leaving Doncaster Rovers. Yesterday he was signed on Leeds United for a substantial figure. He a most promising forward.
Longden is native of Goldthorpe and is admirably built for the game, being 5ft. 10ins., and weighs over 12 stone.
He was secured for the Rovers by Mr. Dick Ray, then the Rovers’ manager, now at Elland road, and quickly gained place in the side. He has made fugitive appearances in the senior side, and at the beginning of the season took Paddy McConnell’s place at inside-left and showed greatly improved form. On Saturday he again figured in the side, while on occasions he has appeared on the other wing.
A strong powerful player, particularly good in the air, a bright future prophesied for him, for though he has not been showing his best of late the experience he will gain at Leeds should pull him a lot.
