Sad Home-Coming

Four Goldthorpe lads who are with the Forces are sons of Mr and the late Mrs. J. Fisher, of 4, Whitworth Street.

Eli Fisher joined up as a sailor six years o ago and later transferred to the Royal Marines and is at present at sea.

John Fisher joined up in 1932 and is somewhere in England.

Fred Fisher’s two years’ service has been with the Royal Artillery and he is with the B.E.F.

Harry Fisher has seen nine years’ service with the York and Lancaster Regiment. These four brothers are all old Goldthorpe Council School boys. Their father and mother served in the Great War. Mrs. Fisher was in the W.A.A.C. and their father went through the last war with the R.E.’s. The boys, who look remarkably fit and healthy, have three cousins serving also.

Their mother died on February 10th last and two of them arrived home in time to see her alive, and the other two were just in time for the funeral.
