Corporal Chas. Marshall, M.M.
Connaught Rangers
Corporal Charles Marshall, Main street, Goldthorpe, has been killed In action in France. His mother has received the following message from Capt. T. A. Dillon:—
“I regret to have to inform you that your son was killed in action on October 10.
ln offering you my sympathy I can only tell you how highly he was thought of in this battalion and also in the 6th battalion, with which he did most of his service. I have known him since he joined the regiment at the end of 1914, and have always thought him a splendid soldier.
His bravery and fearlessness on all occasions have been an example to all the men in the company, and his loss, particularly at the present time, is a great one. He was killed instantly by a shell on the 10th November
