Mr George Boulton Salisbury ‘s (Independent), of Pickhills Avenue, Goldthorpe is a native of Weston-Super-Mare but he has managed a men’s outfitting business in Goldthorpe for the last 23 years.

For many years his father was a big public man at Western and Mrs Oldham admits that he regards that resort as a model of local government practice.

Mr. Salisbury is well known in the Dearne District as a result of his many public activities.

He has been publicity secretary for the Chamber of Trade and publicity secretary and property master of the Dearne District Operatic Society. He is a regular attender at the Goldthorpe Congregational Church.

Mr .Salisbury also claims to be one of the founders of the Dearne District Horticultural Society three years ago. He has also been secretary of the Tradesmen’s Cricket Club, vice-president of the Bolton Municipal Cricket Club, and was formerly a vice-president of the Doncaster Thursday Football League. He is a popular figure on local cricket fields.

He is also keen on fishing: and is an air warden section leader.
