The question of Urban Powers for Conisboro’ and Denaby is being revived.


The next issue of the “Times” will be on Thursday next, one day earlier than usual.


Important staff changes will take effect at the Denaby and Cadeby Collieries next week.


A sacred concert will be held in aid of the Montagu Hospital at the Mexboro’ Empire on Sunday.


Viscount and Viscountess Halifax are at Hickleton Hall, where they will stay till the end of April.


Councillor Cliff, of Mexboro’, has created a surprise by opposing Mr. W. H. Chambers in the Denaby parish.


Mr. W. H. Chambers has represented Denaby on the Doncaster Rural District Council for 20 years.


For various offences at Denaby Main Colliery a number of workmen were summoned and fined at Doncaster Court on Saturday.


The new Parochial Hall at Barnburgh is to be opened by the Hon. Mrs. H. Lindley Wood, at 3 p.m. on Easter Monday.


Yesterday, nominations for the local elections were handed in. Interesting contests are promised in all parts of the district.


Twenty-five candidates are aspiring for Council honours under the auspices of the Mexboro’ and District Trades and Labour Council.


In aid of the funds of the Swinton Cricket Club, a whist drive and dance will be held in the Carnegie Library, Swinton, on Friday, April 4th.


A meeting will be held in the Mexboro’ Public Hall, on Monday evening, to form a separate company of the National Reserve for the Mexboro’ district.


Earl Fitzwilliam has given a site, and also a donation of £100, towards the cost of the erection of a Church Institute and Branch Hall for Brampton Bierlow.


The Wath Education Committee have congratulated a scholar named Eva Clough, aged 13, who has attended school for eight years, and has never been absent or late.


The various battalions of local Territorials in the West Riding will re-assemble, have their annual camp training at Aberystwyth, from July 27 to August 10.


Considerable local interest is attached to the foundation stone-laying ceremony on Saturday, in connection with the erection of a new Salvation Army Citadel at Mexboro’.

The seventieth official boat race between Oxford and Cambridge Universities was rowed yesterday, and a thrilling struggle resulted in a victory for Oxford by three-quarters of a length.


Councillor Robinson, of Wombwell, has commenced an action to recover damages for libel against a resident of Hemingfield named George Jackson, in respect of a letter published in a Barnsley contemporary.


It is expected that the fight for powers to run railless cars in the district will commence during the second week in April, when the Mexboro’ and Swinton Tramways Co.’s Bill is due to come before the House of Commons.


It is anticipated that the reward of £100 offered by the police in connection with the Kilnhurst murder, will be given to the Vigilance League, the Kilnhurst youth who gave information to the Mexboro’ police, which led to the arrest of the murderer.


A fire broke out in a store shed belonging to Messrs. Blands, the bottle works, on Wednesday night at 9-30. Before the fire apparatus could be got to work, the whole structure was burned to the ground. The damage is estimated at between £30 and £40.


The National Union of Teachers will hold its annual conference at Easter in Weston-super-Mare. The delegates from the Mexboro’ Association are Mr. Blakeley, of Thurnscoe, Mr. Watson, of Mexboro’, Mr. Stent, of Wath and Mr. H. J. Kerr, of Goldthorpe, president of the Don and Dearne Division.


The Three Horse Shoes “annual” held on Good Friday at Hickleton, with this year’s improved sports. Admission free. The children’s tea will be given by Mrs. John Dalton.
