L/Bdr. Walter Hydes (26), son of Mrs. and  the late Mr, W. E. Hydes, 32, Hope Avenue, Goldthorpe was the  writer of a prisoner of war card from a Japanese camp, received on Monday by his mother.

He is in good health and unwounded. He was called up in 1938, and after a long term in Malaya reported missing in March, 1942. Formerly he was employed at Barnburgh Main.

His brothers, Pte. Reuben Hydes (25) and A/c2 Leslie Hydes (21) are with the Home Forces.
